Our attorneys at Adair Evans are respected leaders in the legal community. The founding partners, Douglas Adair and Taryn N. Evans, formed Adair Evans to provide their clients with expertise in a responsive and accessible small firm environment. Douglas Adair is a member of the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and Doug is a current member (and past-president) of the executive committee of the family law section of the Utah State Bar. Taryn N. Evans was a shareholder at what was one of Utah’s largest and most respected law firms, Jones Waldo Holbrook & McDonough PC. In that role, Taryn N. Evans handled a number of complex litigation matters, dealing with family law, probate litigation, commercial litigation, and other litigation matters. Taryn uses her litigation and negotiation skills for the benefit of her family law clients.

Douglas Adair and Taryn N. Evans have 40 years of combined legal experience and have practiced in various courts and jurisdiction across the State of Utah. While our attorneys practice family law statewide, they have a heavy practice concentration along the Wasatch Front area, including in Salt Lake, Davis, Weber, and Utah counties. They chose to establish their Firm at a convenient location in the heart of Salt Lake City for the convenience of their Utah state-wide clients.

Each marital estate to be divided during a divorce is uniquely challenging, but some cases can be more complex or involve more substantial assets. Our attorneys have the sophisticated legal knowledge and experience to deal with complex financial and asset divorce cases. These cases often deal with self-employed individuals, ownership in one or more business, asset and business valuations, and assets and investments located in other states or other countries. Our attorneys have extensive experience working with experts in complex divorces, such as appraisers, vocational experts, forensic accountants, and business valuation experts.
Custody and parent time issues are unique because every adult, family, and child is unique. Douglas Adair and Taryn N. Evans fight hard to get the best possible physical and legal custody results for their clients. Both have handled contested custody matters at all stages of litigation, including prior to trial (including with temporary orders and enforcement of temporary orders), in mediation, through a trial, and in post-trial proceedings (including post-trial motions and appeals, petitions to modify final orders, relocation proceedings, and enforcement of final orders). As such, both of them have also dealt with many custody evaluators, guardian ad litems (attorneys for children), experts, the Utah Division of Child and Family Services, the Utah Attorney General’s office, drug and alcohol testing facilities and services, private investigators, mediators, special masters, reunification therapists, family systems therapists, and high conflict co-parenting family therapists. Both attorneys are highly experienced in presenting their clients custody issues to Utah courts, in front of judges and commissioners.
